Leading wildflower and turf grower, Lindum, is supplying its wildflower turf mats for gardens, landscaping and green roofs at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012. Five different gardens will benefit from these mats which provide not only wonderful flowering displays but are drought tolerant and encourage biodiversity.

Stephen Fell, Managing Director, Lindum says, "We have noticed a significant increase in demand for wildflowers, reflected in the number of gardens at Chelsea this year to which we are supplying our range of wildflower turf products. Pollinating insects such as bees, butterflies and moths and also some of our native bird species, have been declining over the last 50 years, so wildflowers are crucially important in providing a habitat for conserving this biodiversity. Our mix of ready-established wildflowers grown in felt mats, make it easy to establish a wildflower meadow or wildlife area whatever the size of garden. Our range includes mats that are perfect for drought conditions, a key feature given the UK's changing climate and also ideal for green roofs, which provides another opportunity to bring wildflowers into otherwise wasted space."

The five gardens to which Lindum is supplying its wildflower mats are:

  • "Out of the Blue", a joint collaboration between Lindum and award-winning landscape artist Alan Gardner, creating an environmentally sustainable roof garden on the ground, for the new Fresh Gardens category.
  • "Glamourlands: A Techno-Folly" including a stunning wildflower meadow designed by Tony Heywood and Alison Condie, represented by Vigo Gallery for the Fresh Gardens category.
  • Veolia Water's "Naturally Dry" Garden – a garden inspired by William Wordsworth, including drought tolerant wildflowers designed by Vicky Harris Garden Design for the Artisan category.
  • The Brontës' Yorkshire Garden, sponsored by Welcome to Yorkshire and designed by Tracy Foster to bring wildflowers in a wild Yorkshire landscape inspired garden.
  • Laura Antebi, The Wires Studio trade stand by Back to Nature Gardening .

Sustainably grown in Yorkshire, Lindum's wildflower mats for gardens, landscaping and green roofs are lightweight and easy to install and roll out, with plants ready established and growing in a strong felt mat made from recycled British textiles.

Different mixtures of wildflowers are available in the wildflower mats range and they are suitable for use on the ground or on a roof.
